Lammah was born from a desire to bridge the gap between ancient Sudanese roasting traditions and the rigorous demands of the modern coffee consumer. My creative direction for Lammah centered on 'Cultural Synthesis'—a strategic blending of the traditional المقلاة (roasting pan) with the universal shape of the coffee bean. By fusing these symbols, I created a visual shorthand that tells the brand's story instantly: deeply rooted in artisanal heritage, yet precision-engineered for the convenience of modern capsules and instant formats. This identity was crafted to move beyond just 'a coffee brand,' establishing a premium lifestyle experience that is as authentic in Khartoum as it is competitive in the high-end UAE market.
Led the creative direction and identity development for Lammah, a premium coffee brand merging traditional Sudanese hand-roasting techniques with modern, convenient consumption formats (capsules and instant).
The GCC coffee market is incredibly competitive. Lammah needed to stand out not just as "another coffee brand," but as a story-driven product that offers the quality of traditional Sudanese roasting with the convenience of global standards. The challenge was to communicate "Heritage" and "Innovation" simultaneously without appearing disjointed.
Symbolic Fusion: The core identity is built around a custom symbol—the fusion of the traditional Sudanese frying pan (المقلاة) and the coffee bean. This visual shorthand tells the brand's story instantly: we are rooted in the ancient, yet engineered for the modern consumer.
Premium Positioning: By leveraging high-grade Ethiopian and Brazilian beans, the visual language uses a sophisticated color palette and clean typography to signal "premium quality" to the UAE/GCC market.
Convenience & Quality: The design system balances the warmth of the "handmade" origin story with the clinical, high-trust precision required for modern capsule and ready-to-drink coffee packaging.
Market Entry: Created a scalable brand architecture designed to launch in the UAE, with a roadmap for GCC and domestic Sudanese expansion.
Brand Equity: Successfully synthesized traditional Sudanese methodology with modern consumer needs, providing Lammah with a distinct visual identity that differentiates it from generic mass-market brands.
Entering the saturated GCC coffee market requires a visual language that is both culturally resonant and instantly premium. As Visual Director for Lammah, I led the creation of a brand architecture that balances the warmth of Sudanese coffee culture with the clinical, high-trust precision expected by international consumers. Through a sophisticated color palette, minimalist typography, and a custom-fused symbol, I built an identity that doesn't just sit on the shelf—it commands it. This visual strategy was designed to support a scalable business model, ensuring Lammah remains a trusted, aspirational choice as it expands from its local roots to a broader GCC presence.
